Project

Paperfield

A local, offline-capable research desk where papers can be positioned, grouped, connected, imported by DOI, and read in place.

Paperfield replaces the conventional literature list with a spatial desk. Papers can be positioned, grouped, connected, previewed, and opened in a full reader.

DOI import retrieves bibliographic metadata from Crossref and checks Unpaywall for a reported open-access location. Optional Zotero import is read-only, with credentials and imported data kept on the desktop.

Verified PDFs can display cached first-page previews on the desk. Once material is local, the application remains usable offline. A short product-vision film and poster were produced alongside the application to communicate this interaction model.
